The BCMMetrics story
As the CEO of MHA Consulting, I’ve spent decades helping teams build and improve their business continuity programs. What held them back? Manual processes, inconsistent assessments, and tools that created more work than they solved.
To support our own consultants, we built an internal platform that standardized assessments, simplified reporting, and kept clients compliant. That tool became BCMMETRICS.
Today, it’s the same software we use daily, now available to teams everywhere. Designed by practitioners, it focuses on what matters: clarity, simplicity, and real-world results.
— Michael Herrera, CEO, MHA Consulting & BCMMetrics
Compliance Confidence:
How It All Began
BCMMetrics started as an internal tool at MHA Consulting, designed by Michael Herrera to support real client engagements. The first module, Compliance Confidence, was built to assess continuity programs against industry standards with clarity and consistency.
COMPLIANCE CONFIDENCEStreamlining BIAs for Everyone
Next came BIA On-Demand, giving users the ability to complete their own business impact analyses from end to end. It simplified what was once a lengthy, consultant-driven process, helping teams collect, validate, and analyze data with more structure and less friction.
BIA ON-DEMANDTurning Plans into Action
To turn analysis into documentation, we developed BCM Planner. It allowed users to upload, build, and manage recovery plans — and automatically populate them with relevant BIA data. No more manual copying and pasting between systems.
BCM PLANNERA Smarter Way to Store and Access Plans
With BCM One, we tackled plan storage. More than a file repository, it organizes continuity plans by physical site. Users can find their documents via an interactive map, with each location pinned and clickable.
BCM ONEUnderstanding What’s Left at Risk
Residual Risk was created to help teams visualize what vulnerabilities still remain even after continuity plans are in place. It allows organizations to define acceptable thresholds and quickly see where they fall short.
Tracking and Reporting on Exercises
We then introduced Exercise Tracking and Reporting, enabling users to record and report on mock scenarios. They can link exercises to specific units, plans, and applications, all stored in a searchable database for better documentation and visibility.
A New Era for BCMMetrics
After years of iteration, we launched BCMMetrics to reporting for more efficient and user-friendly.
Michael and his team are continuity professionals. They've been around for a while–they know what they’re doing, what works and what doesn't work. They're also willing to listen to other community professionals to make improvements.

It helps that BCMMetrics was created by continuity professionals, for continuity professionals. You have other solutions built by computer programmers that pulled information from a questionnaire and started tweaking it. They have not had the end-user experience to really make that program pop and be beneficial to the client.

The team was fantastic in assisting us. In fact, they went above and beyond and ensuring that we could get done what we needed to do. They worked hard to ensure that we were happy and where we needed to be at the end.
